November 16, 2012

It's been a while....

But we are back and blogging!
We are SO happy and excited to be back at school and into our daily routine.  We truly missed your children during the storm! We hope this blog finds you all doing well, safe, healthy, and happy!

This week was truly a great one! Two events we would like to spotlight this week are our Scientist of the Week, Tess, and Curriculum Night 2012! We hope this blog makes you smile-it sure had that impact on us! Enjoy!

Scientist of the Week- Will oil mix with water? By Tess Silverman

Tess proves to us ALL what the expression "Like Oil and Water" truly means!
Tess posed the question, "Do oil and water mix?" to the class.  Most of the class predicted that they would mix together.  However, Tess clearly demonstrated that oil and water do not mix! She used green food coloring in water to help see the layers form after she added the oil to the mix.

The class then used this experiment as a way to understand the expression "Like oil and water." We brainstormed different characters who are very different and may not always get along!!!!!! For example, Tom and Jerry (thanks Skylar) are like oil and water! Ask your child about more examples of character who do not get along! Here's Tess....

Curriculum Fair 2012

The Curriculum Fair, last night, was a blast! Thank you to ALL the parents, grandparents, and children who were able to join us.  For those of you who could not attend, you were missed, and we will be sending home the activity we worked this afternoon.

Students and and their guests did an amazing job at becoming "Text Savvy!" We hope you enjoyed a glimpse into an activity that the children participate in each day to help enhance their reading skills! Check out the pictures below of our "Savvy Curriculum Night!"
